The Look And Feel Of Natural Teeth

Dental implants are a safe and effective way to replace missing teeth. You can eat, brush and floss just like regular teeth and they support teeth around them while preventing bone loss. They can event help prevent premature facial sagging.

A dental implant is a replacement tooth that is very similar to original tooth structure. A titanium screw replicates the original root and is inserted into your jaw bone. This post is then used to support a crown, bridge or denture. The best part is as close to a natural tooth as you can get and often lasts a lifetime. After Inserting the root and tooth gums will  bond and grow naturally around the implant. As the tissue heals, the implant will bond with the bone and attach to the gum.

Dental Implants Q/A

Q | What are the different types of dental implants?

A | There are several types of dental implants, including:

  1. Endosteal implants: These are the most common type of dental implants. They are surgically placed directly into the jawbone and are used to support a single tooth, a bridge, or a full set of dentures.
  2. Subperiosteal implants: These are placed on top of the jawbone, but under the gum tissue. They are used in cases where there is not enough healthy jawbone to support an endosteal implant.
  3. Mini implants: These are smaller than traditional implants and are used to support a single tooth or a partial denture. They are usually less expensive than traditional implants and can be placed in a single office visit.
  4. Zygomatic implants: These are long implants that are used in cases where there is not enough healthy jawbone to support traditional implants. They are anchored in the cheekbone and are used to support a full set of dentures.
  5. All-on-4 implants: These are a type of implant-supported denture that uses just four implants to support a full set of dentures. They are used in cases where there is not enough healthy jawbone to support traditional implants.
  6. Immediate load implants: These are implants that can be loaded with a dental prosthesis (such as a crown or denture) immediately after they are placed in the jawbone. They are used in cases where the patient needs to have their teeth replaced as soon as possible.

Q | Are dental implants safe?

A | Dental implants are considered a safe and effective treatment option for replacing missing teeth and have been successfully used for many years. They are the most popular solution to replacing teeth.

Q | How much do dental implants cost?

A | The cost of dental implants varies widely and can depend on a number of factors, including the type of implant being used and the complexity of the case. In general, the cost of a single dental implant can range from $1,500 to $6,000 plus abutment (the connector that holds the crown in place) or the crown, which can add an additional $500 to $3,000.

If you need multiple implants or an implant-supported denture, the total cost can be higher. Your dental insurance may cover some of the cost.

Q | Are dental implants painful?

A | The pain associated with getting a dental implant can vary depending on the individual and the complexity of the case. In general, the placement of the implant itself is performed under local anesthesia, so the procedure itself should not be painful. Some people may experience some mild discomfort or swelling for a few days after the procedure, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.

Post-procedure instructions may include taking prescribed antibiotics and/or pain medications and avoiding certain foods. This can help to minimize any discomfort and ensure that the implant site heals properly.

After the implant has been placed, it will need to heal and integrate with the jawbone for several months before the abutment and crown can be placed. During this time, you may experience some mild discomfort as the implant site heals.
