As dentists, we are trained to save teeth. In certain instances though, removal is required. Significant tooth decay, gum disease, trauma from an accident and overcrowding are common reasons for removal.

When teeth are extracted they are pulled from their socket located in the jawbone.  Teeth are encased in the socket with a ligament that connects it to the bone. The socket bone is somewhat spongy so it is slightly enlarged. The tooth is separated from the ligamint, rocked back and forth slightly and then removed. 

Dr. Mangat uses leading edge technology to show you the issue and will summarize the procedure to remove the tooth. With a special interest in oral surgery, she routinely removes teeth, in a safe and gentle manner.
